The Little Known, Elusive Commercial Solar Incentive

The Little Known, Elusive Commercial Solar Incentive

Why is this important?

You want your organization to adopt as much clean solar energy as possible to reduce costs and seriously walk the sustainability talk.

Yet, many organizations have been struggling to get larger commercial solar across the line (larger than 100 kW).

Very often this is due to the LGC (Large-Scale Generation Certificates) values dropping significantly in the last couple of years.

This means these projects would produce longer payback and lower ROI….therefore, difficult to get the financial or accounting people onboard.

UNLESS you know somebody who understands how to access another major commercial solar incentive.

Many energy efficiency projects in Victoria can access this little known state-based incentive that can bring payback down to as low as 2.5 years-3.5 years.

A recent solar project we’re assessing would qualify for an additional $300,000 incentive (approximate)!

Another project utilizing this incentive is expected to accumulate net benefit charted by the below, WITHOUT capital outlay:

VEU

This model is based on current tariff and real consumption data.

The incentive can be realized just a few weeks after system commissioning.

Why is this elusive or not well-understood?

This program has been regularly changing and the information is not well-curated.

I tried to google it myself and wasted a few hours going through out-of-date, incoherent information.

To get the best out of this program, detailed modelling and performance monitoring are required to manage the variables.

It is subject to careful sizing and consumption analysis.

So, while the program still includes large solar systems, why don’t you take advantage of it now?

Who is it for?

If your organization has no solar yet or have only installed a solar system that cannot meet the large consumption demand, then this program could be for you.

Of course, this is only practical if physical space for the panels is still available, roof-mount or ground-mount.
